Don't be fooled by the title, Fruit Chan's film, set in Hong Kong, while not of the sinister-apparition genre, is still suitably scary. She hears of a local wise woman, Mei, once a doctor in mainland China whose delicious dumplings have a rejuvenating effect and after one sample, Qing is transformed. But she has to keep taking them and when she learns what the secret ingredient and the part she must play in return for her youth, the film takes a darker, visceral turn.

Fritz Lang made five war movies in his long career, four during or just after World War II and this one, released as America was about to embark on the Korean War. Based on a true story, it stars Tyrone Power as Ensign Chuck Palmer, the leader of a group of US servicemen left stranded in the Philippines in 1942 when General MacArthur withdrew from the Japanese invasion. Teaming up with the local resistance, he and his group, including buddy Jim Mitchell, evade the occupying forces and set up a makeshift radio station to bolster morale. Despite the wartime setting, Palmer still finds time for romance with Jeanne Martinez, the widow of a local resistance hero.

Brothers Dave and Max Fleicher's animated film followed their hit Gulliver's Travels, but suffered almost terminally on its release: it was the same weekend that the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor and America's film fans had other things on their minds. The plot follows a community of insects of Bugtown, who search for a new home as the humans' appetite for building encroaches on their environment. Grasshopper Hoppity and Mr Bumble the Bee believe there's a haven in the garden of a nearby songwriter, but they have to persuade the others, including the ruthless C Bagley Beetle, who has his own plans. An overlooked animated classic, with songs by Hoagy Carmichael and Frank Loesser, the colours and lines of each hand-made cell rival anything computer animation can do today, while the plot and characterisations match any in Antz and A Bug's Life.

Alfred L Werker's film makes no apology for its debt to the 1952 classic High Noon, but MacMurray, as a mild storekeeper in contrast to Gary Cooper's experienced marshal, is superb as a scared man who nevertheless chooses to do the decent thing and stay and fight rather than run.

An overlooked animated classic, with songs by Hoagy Carmichael and Frank Loesser, the colours and lines of each hand-made cell rival anything computer animation can do today, while the plot and characterisations match any in Antz and A Bug's Life.

Drebin foils a plot by arch-criminal Victor Ludwig to assassinate our own dear Queen at a Los Angeles Dodgers baseball game. He's helped by Ludwig's assistant Jane Spencer who has no idea of the dastardly plan and soon agrees to help Drebin, as well as falling in love with him. The plot is paper-thin but the laughs come hot on the heels of each other, made all the funnier by the straight playing of all the leads. Cameo appearances include the late John Houseman and baseball legend Reggie Jackson.
